Technical Terms

Analog

Analog is an electrical signal transmitted by a cable from a camera to a monitor. Analog camera is generally charged with voltage and current.

Automatic Gain Control

This helps automatically adjust the video quality in low light conditions.

Bandwidth

The amount of data allowed transmitting to your computer over a specific period of time. This usually is expressed in bits per second (bps).

BNC

A British Naval Connector (BNC) is a connector used between coaxial cable and an input/output port, either male or female, and couplings complete with a quarter twist of the connector.

CAT5 Cable

Short for Category 5 cable, it is the Ethernet cable that helps transfer data from an IP network (or analog) to the monitor.

LaView Cloud

Remote view network setup where no port forwarding is needed with this user friendly feature available on 0, 2, 3, 5 series.

LaView CUBE
Our most compact DVR embedded with LaView Cloud, video storage alert, and P2P capabilities. You get D1 resolution, day and night viewing, and HDMI compatibilities with this ultra-space-saving and discrete DVR.

D1

Means the frames per second is 30fps, which indicates you are seeing footage in real time.  D1 allows full resolution that displays 720×480 pixels (NTSC)

DVR

Digital Video Recorder that records video pictures digitally.

Face detection

Exclusively available through our CUBE, 4 channel kit LV-KD5144C-G5. Your DVR takes snapshots of faces that are within its range and stores them for you. If you click on an image on your snapshot list your DVR will play back a clip from where that image was taken from.

Full HD 1080P

Clean, sharp, High definition viewing. Better quality than D1 and 960H.

 H.264 Video Compression

H.264 Video compression helps store footage without losing quality and is the industry standard for video compression. Most of our DVR quality uses this technology. 

HD High Definition

High definition is a higher resolution, which is only possible with HD or MegaPixel IP cameras (or HD SDI). This is not the same as high resolution.

HDMI

High Definition Multimedia Interface, is used as one of the HD video connectors and its port can be found on the rear panel of DVR or NVRs.

LaView HDS

High Definition Systems is our analog camera with 1080P resolution through a coax cable. You will get the same resolution as an IP camera.

Infrared (IR)

An IR filter that is placed in front of the image sensor in a camera lens to remove infrared wavelengths that distorts the image to help see clearly in the dark.

LaView IP

Our highest resolution crystal clear 1080P viewing and recording. The LaView IP is ONVIF-S and UL listed. View your flexible, premium IP cameras via NVR or independently.

IP66

IP66 rating sets an industry standard and a degree of protection against dust-proofing and water resistance.

LED

Light Emitting Diode is an industry standard lighting technology to help night vision.

Motion Detection

Record only when camera see’s movement in order to save space and energy.

NVR

Network video recorder for our IP cameras

On Screen Display

Menu app configuration of the camera that is displayed on top of the video feed.

ONVIF-S

Is standard protocol and connection compatibility. It is video network and NVR, IP based.

PoE

Power Over Ethernet is a technology for wired Ethernet LANs that allows the electric current.

P2P

Available through LaView cloud and our 0,5,3 and 2 series.

Remote Viewing

A feature on a DVR and NVR that allows the owner to live view and record footage from mobile devices as long as there’s internet connection.

Resolution

LaView cameras start off at 520TVL, the higher the resolution, the better the image quality in cameras. The clarity of an image is relayed by a camera.

LaView Smart

LaView 2 series is our smart DVR with 960H viewing and 1080p resolution display capabilities. It embedded with our smart search technology and supplies a true wide screen that grants clear video images without stretching.

TV Lines (TVL)

Television lines or lines per picture height, is the number of horizontal alternating dark and light lines on a camera. The higher the TVL means, the higher the resolution, and the smaller the angle of viewing becomes.

Advanced clarity with up to 1,000TVL superior resolution

520TVL

Basic video resolution for home surveillance.

600TVL

Intermediate security quality for home recording with better resolution and color than 520 TVL.

700TVL

Our proficient pro-level of viewing and surveillance with more clarity and detail than 520, and 600 TVL.
720P is a resolution that’s 1280-720 pixel and is only HDS and IP compatible.
